Boop-oop-a-doop

When I got to the US nine months ago, I had several questions ringing in my mind. I was never sure what to wear to my husband's office party! Did not know what is in vogue and most importantly what to avoid! I found it ridiculous that there were no mugs in the toilet and no concept called 'detergent soap.

I thought I can make best use of my time by creating a 'help online' to all those newly weds and other women relocating on H-4 visas. I am aware there are several websites that cater to this group. But there is no website which involves them. Disemminating information may be one thing but whats more important is to have a website run by them. Actively involve these women and create a strong group that can prove to be powerful enough to support useful causes.

My husband is my dream come true [ofcourse barring a few exceptional traits that is characteristic of the Martian subset and which a Venutian often finds it too hard to accept initially].

I have also dreamed that the two will make the best of friends and would be able to converse any topic without any discomfort. I also had a reason strong enough to believe it would come true. My best friends [two of them] were guys and we made really great friends.

However it was only today the rude shock dawned on me. My husband and I can never become the best of friends. I may have one or two topics that I can never discuss with my husband because I will never feel comfortable when my husband comments on it. So what happened? We were watching 'Sex and the City'. I quipped that one of the very popular stars in the serial did not deserve the title that the media had bestowed on her 'The cool sexy city gal'. My husband agreed with me and continued with his comments 'That is the gal, I think this lady is hot.... very hot'

I asked for it. Didn't I?
